This was probably made worse because the engine sounds so good you find yourself accelerating at every opportunity, especially in 2nd and 3rd gears up to about 30 just to hear the exhaust pop and snarl.
I have owned a couple of performance cars prior to the ST but nothing which was in this league performance wise. First up the car handles very well regardless of the speed, it strikes a great balance between handling and comfort without compromising either, the torque delivery is fantastic regardless of the gear and in this respect I would add that the Bluefin by Superchips adds considerable grunt to what is already a great engine.
In real world terms the Ford Focus is a great car, I have driven the Focus which is really best placed on the track and also the new Honda Civic Type R which is a great car but in my opinion is no real match for the Ford Focus in terms of performance although the handling is excellent.
Generally, Ford Focus is a great car, but be prepared for some heavy bills and not just the fuel. Tires over $200 each and the fronts won’t last more than 20.000KM, more likely 15.000-17.000KM. Buy one, because you’ll love it.
