Congrats to Hady Mirza, the winner of the first Asian Idol competition. To be honest, I’m not really surprised with the result. The main reason behind this is the voting system in Asian Idol. Last night, Mike, Jaclyn, and Mau gave their best performances. But their best performances won’t make most people outside their home country to vote for them. Since we have to vote for two idols, people will tend to vote their home idol and idol with weaker performance.

For example, most people in Indonesia won’t vote for Mike and Jaclyn or Mike and Mau since Jaclyn and Mau are the closest competitor for Mike. But people in Indonesia tend to vote Mike and idol with weak performance such as Hady Mirza, Abhijeet Sawant, or Phuong Vy. And I think this is also happen in other countries where people vote their home idol and idol with the weak performance. So, no wonder that Hady Mirza could become the first Asian Idol. But it doesn’t matter who is the winner of the first Asian Idol. All of them are the winner to me. BTW, it’s just my analysis. So, if you have something to say just leave your comments. If you want to download mp3 or video of the result show, you can check them here. And last night performance can be checked here.

Totally undeserved win for Hady. *sigh*

It should have been Mau or Mike.

Yup, your analysis is right. Jauh lebih bagus Mike atau Jack pas show kemaren, tapi pas Hady menang sempet kaget juga… Sayang sekali Mike belum menang, maybe next time the Voting system will be better

I think it is quite hard for people to figure out if the voting system was benefit to whom. For instance, you might be right when saying people tend to vote for their home idol (Mau, Mike, Jaclyn) and idol with least performance (Hady, Abhijeet, or Phuong Vy) to avoid voting for the closer competitors. But at the same time, people from India or Vietnam would vote for their home idol and idol with the best performance to eliminate the chance of the last place for their country. The judges’ vote might as well fall into the same partern. Also, the rate of using SMS in each country should be considered rather than the population itself, because Singapore surely have a relatively high rate comparing to Indonesia or India.

I think He just get an “unpredictable” lucky vote. This is my prediction how Hady won this Asian Idol Competition:

1. Most Indonesian People know that Hady’s parents come from Indonesia (from Buginese Tribe), that’s what Hady mention before the competition start. So, probably. most Indonesian will choose Hady as their second vote.

2. I think most malaysian People will vote Hady as their second vote since Hady is Singapore delegation which is part of Malaysia (before they parted).

3. Some Philippine People will vote Hady as thair second vote because they know that Hady vocal coach came from Philippine.

4. The other will vote Hady as second vote because He is delegation from small country, so they think if they vote Hady, it will not make him won.

5. Other prediction is most of the voter don’t understand how this voting counting system works. They don’t know that it is not number will count but the average % per country will be used. So you can imagine if Hady get second place in all country.

6. The last prediction is most voter is a young deaf girl, who is more concern on their eyes than their ear (of course, they are deaf).

So, I predict that Hady won this by second vote.

i totally agree with Thong Huynh.
However its true that in the competition itself Hady didnt do his very best. But u guys should check out on youtube. Just type Hady Mirza. Listen to his voice first and then you guys can leave your 2 cents worth here.
Besides, i think that Jaclyn is not that good as well. Yes, she has a damn powerful voice esp with HIGH notes, but its just that. When it comes to songs with low notes, her voice becomes totally flat.
Seriously. You guys shough listen to Msia’s rendition of HSM ‘You are the music in me’ and you can definitely recognise her super flat voice. No offense but its just disturbing to see ppl condemning Hady. He’s not bad you know. Wrong choice of song, i must say. As for mike, i think he’s really capable of singing, talented definitely. I’m very sure he’ll do very well even tho he didn’t win Asian Idol. He might do better than Hady, who knows eh?
Put aside the fact that you really do not like Hady but lets just be happy that we finally have an Asian Idol to be proud of. He’s definitely good-looking,charming and very down-to-earth. Happy everyone?
I still think they, all 6 of them are winners. Its just an extra bonus for Hady.

I felt that the voting system (sms) for this contest could be quite confusing to some ppl. Some ppl might not be aware that they have to vote 2 countries or else their voting will be void, or they just simply don’t follow instruction. That might be the other reason why…

I think we should stop giving Hady flak, and just accept his win. And we should congratulate him and feel proud of him- no matter what, he does deserve this, and we shouldn’t be taking away his glory in any way.

the event should have been held in a non-participating country with a good texting population in order to give equal footing to all participants.. it is inevitable that there would be biases with the voting.. and as you’ve guys said, this would give the mediocre ones an advantage that not everyone would see right away…

imo, the real competition was between mau and mike if it only boiled down to only singing prowess.

Hady Mirza won the Asian Idol beacuse of the lucky and disqualified only. I’m sure most people in Asia feel unsatisfied with this result except Philipine. Because I think the qualified contestant in this event are Mike Mohede and Mau Marcellino. But they become the unfair voting system.

I think all people judge Hady wrongly because they do not understand what an “Idol Competition” is. The Idol Competition is not a song competition but it is a “Voting Competition”. If it is song competition you may hear from a radio and we do not need the television. So it is not only the vocal technique nor the colour of the voices that make public choose, it is comprehensive, the performance on the stage. To be honest to most young girls, Hady is the choosen type as a calm, handsome and humble person. He knows that he won’t be avle to beat the voting number against Indonesia for example the most populated country. He humbly said that his ancestor came from Indonesia. So many factors will determine someone performace on the stage. Like or dislike, I myself urge you all people to congratulate him. He is the Asian Idol because you vote him in a VOTING COMPETITION. Fair enough, come on.

whatta dissapointing result..
Tapi, Idol Competition memang gak selalu memberikan result yang memuaskan semua orang karena memang semua pilihan masing-masing. Tapi, kalau memang analisis atas kemenangan Hady adalah karena voter prefer to choose their own respective idol + the least performance (artinya they vote HADY by accident (baca:secara gak sengaja!). Untung-untungan bangett…
Yah..emang ternyata si Hady beruntung bangett..
Though some of the commentators in this blog said that Hady has the Capability, good voice, etc..But seems like he didnt show any of those great efforts in the previuos performances. Definitely Mau Marcello outwight the other Idols (though I also vote for Mike). But however, It’s just my own thought..
The result can be changed, so however I want to congratulate Hady (and their voters)..Hopefully, Hady will be the Inspirational Idol (just like He said when Anu asked him if he were the Asian Idol)

I was so disappointed with the result… But with all the exposure of all 6 of them I think the other 5 will definitely make it because of the contest… Other countries aside from their own respective countries don’t know who they are before Asian Idol… I’ve voted for Mau and Mike because I can feel the emotions they are trying to tell the audiences with their songs… They are so good… But one person can’t really do anything if the rest of Asia is thingking otherwise… Sigh…

Mike and Jac rocks! Even Mau! Not Hady! No matter what those weirdo fans go on about how Hady might be better than the others and try so hard to justify it. Tone deaf boyband lovers got their say and continue to bitch about it being an upset simply because they’re intoxicated with Hady’s look. Bleurrgghh!.
Definitely NOT an Asian Idol to be proud of. Looks? What else can he do?

Hello!
I know everybody is sad with the fact that their country do not win the Asian Idol. Like the judges said “Every Idol standing before them is a winner”. Don’t get too agitated because you should be proud that your country sent someone to be a representative in the Asian Idol.

I have to agree with Missy. I don’t deny that Jac, Mau and Mike have the most powerful voice among all but this is a music industry. This is reality that any producer or record company will look at package. Hady is definitely Good-looking, out-going, never proud of himself and you guys can even see that he do not expect himself to win the Asian Idol. Look at his expression. Of course he must be feeling happy because he win but don’t tell me you guys won’t smile if you guys win Asian Idol.

I think you guys should really watch again his performances at You Tube before jumping to conclusion about what you guys assume an “unpredicted” winner.
Remember, all Idols are winners. I love all of the Idols from all the six countries but maybe Hady had that extra name to it.

All of them are winners in their own right. The voting system is, inevitably, flawed due to the different population in each country, different wealth and so on. But, in retrospect, I think that this Asian Idol should not be staged at Jakarta. Simply because it is one of the participating countries for this singing competition. It is rather unfair to see many of the Indonesian supporters over there.

I also think that Jaclyn Victor has indeed put up a very good performance as compared to Hady. But that does not mean Jaclyn is a better singer. A lot of factors come into play in deciding who’s good and who’s not. Hady has picked the wrong songs. Songs that do not allow him to show the best of him. The same, I feel, goes for the Indian idol too. I truly looked forward to his performance (for the Indian song) but it truly disappointed me.

Whatever the cause for Hady’s win, ultimately this Asian Idol is only its first. The winner has been revealed. Let the organizers learn from any mistake, inherent or not, and avoid them in the future.

Congrats to Hady Mirza.

and Yes, Missy is right …Hady is charming, he got this boyish smile which makes us all feel happy and proud to be Asian…….

If I were an India, I would definately choosed Hady for my 2nd name in the message instead of Phuong Vy. He dared to duet sing the India song and he won my emotions rather then someone who said he/she would love to promote ‘their’ country songs in the region. Well, I need ‘my’ song to be heard.
He sang songs in Malay, in English and in India. He is the ‘richest’ character.

He seemed so enjoy and excited on the stage. When asked about what he wanted to achieve if he became the Asian idol, didn’t he said he wanted to be an inspirational singer. This is a huge answer.

His voice might be a bit less then the others but he got the right attitude to be the star.

Just my 2 cents okay….

It’s not that important who the winner of the 1st Asian Idol is. The competition should lead us to ‘friendship’ and ‘respect’, among the Asian countries.

The true winner is one who could accept losing, then improve the quality, and one who could take winning, then keep the quality at the top. As you all know : ‘the best is never rest’. We can’t judge those 6 incredible talents, only by statistic and number, in a very short period. Salute to all 6 idols who has represented their country at their very best effort. Congratulation for Hardy Mirza, as being the 1st Asian Idol.

I strongly belief that Hady should have not won but luck falls on his side. and if Thong Huynh thinks that Singapore has a high rate of sms, think again. Singapore is the smallest country among the 6, why do they sore as 1 nation. Its held in Indonesia, and everyone expect Mike to win but, i dont think the citizens are not supportive enough..

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asian_idol

There are several differences in voting and tabulation between Asian Idol and other Idol shows. Unlike the latter wherein the viewers get to vote for one contestant, the voting procedure for Asian Idol requires viewers to send SMS votes for two favorite Idols, thus allowing contestants to receive votes aside from their respective countries.[6][21]

As consideration on population size among the participating countries, tabulation of votes are done through an “Equal and Even Cumulative Method”, wherein the total votes of each country are converted into percentages.[21][22] The winner was determined through 50% viewers’ votes and 50% judges’ scores.[23]

There are however concerns about the accuracy of this voting procedure. As most if not all voters would have attempted to pair their own favorite with another contestant who in their view was the most unlikely winner so as to give their own singular favorite the most advantage possible (i.e. negative pairing). Under that circumstance, an undesirable effect may be that the unintended negaive votes would actually accumulate to a large number if the majority decided on the same contestant as the candidate for negative pairing. In that event the result could be interpreted as voting for not the most popular idol but for a contestant that viewers believe to be the weakest candidate to become Asian Idol.[citation needed]

Visit http://showbizandstyle.inquirer.net/entertainment/entertainment/view/20071210-105876/RP_bet_leading_%91Asian_Idol%92_poll

Quote:
Perci Intalan, ABC 5’s head of Creative and Entertainment Production, told Inquirer Entertainment that the result of the online poll was largely indicative of the contestants’ current standing in the regional contest which is being held in Jakarta, Indonesia for the first time.

“Mau’s closest competitor seems to be Vietnam’s Phuong. Mike, on the other hand, was chosen by Indonesians in a contest among four local ‘Idol’ winners. I heard that Malaysia’s Jaclyn is a superstar in her own country, though.”

Voting system

“In sum, they’re all strong contenders,” explained Intalan who had seen the contestants’ performance videos in the “Road to Asian Idol” TV special, aired on ABC 5 last Saturday.

According to the web site, viewers will be asked to vote for two contestants to eliminate “population size … as a determining factor. It takes into account any potential national bias.”

The system was formulated by FremantleMedia, “Idol” franchise holder, to ensure a level playing field.

It’s mathematical, Intalan agreed.

However, he disagreed with the strategy being proposed by some Filipinos in websites and blogs. “To help Mau, they suggest that voters pick Mau as first choice and the weakest candidate as second. The thing is, we have no way of knowing who’s the weakest,” he clarified.

End of Quote

Now it is quite clear that the majority has a very clear idea who the weakest candidate is.

Hmm… kayaknya voting system faulty… they had to make it two votes per country to counter the fact that some countries had more population (i.e. Indonesia & India)… and I think some of the comments on this blog was spot on: Hady was probably the second vote for many people regardless of their country. While I agree that his vocals probably isn’t the best compared to the so called top three (Mike, Jac & Mau) he probably have enough international appeal in the sense that he looks good and has such a personable manner. In other words, he’s more commercial than the rest! Anyway, congrats Hady Mirza!

some ppl above just dont seem to get that it wasn’t ONLY a singing competition. its a ‘whole package’ competition. being able to sing excellently is NOT enough.

Jaclyn could sing, she’s technically superb. and she looks good. however, the way she sang all her songs, it seemed like she was BORED and was just going through the whole routine. she didnt engage with the audience with her expressions. just hit the high notes only. and she looks over-confident all the time. its only natural for ppl like humble ppl.

mau is another great singer. very expressive in her vocals. but then again…as an idol… you need to have the commercial package. as much as we hate to admit it (cos its shallow), good looks and ‘proportion’ play a big part as well. look at Ruben Studdard, winner of American Idol 2. Where is he now? not as popular as Clay aiken or kelly clarkson or carrie underwood thats for sure.

i love mike’s vocals. but mike will be a ruben studdard if he won asian idol. there’s nothing exciting to him besides his lovely vocals. once again…think commercial success…good looks…proportion…ability to sing well. mike’s like a cuddly singing teddy bear. too adorable to be idol material.

abhijeet phuong vy and hady were the ones with the weaker vocals in the competition, as compared to jac mau and mike. but they have the looks. however phuong vy was not entertaining enough. sweet looker but boring. and we all know most voters make up of excited young girls. who do you think they’d vote for? a singer prettier than them or handsome looking boys?

between abhijeet and hady, in terms of package, they are probably equal. but abhijeet sounds better singing hindi songs. the kuch kuch hota hai song was probably the most entertaining. if you look at it the wrong way, they look like two gays singing a love song. hilarious and entertaining.

that leaves with hady…he can sing english songs as well as malay songs. his accent is not thick and is understood by all. he can dance well enough to make the girls scream, he’s got the looks, he can sing reasonably well and he knows how to work the crowd. those traits are essential in the commercial entertainment industry.

just my fifty cents worth.

there is a winner in everyone…no one has the right to criticise anyone of the 6 idols.all give their very best that night. But there is always a person who is outstanding from the other 5. there is some sort of uniqueness in every winner. Maybe not so much of the voices but maybe other factor that lead to Hady’s winning….he look relax when he perform and does not overdo it. he does not expect anything coz of his shock expression. WE must be proud of all 6 and not do otherwise. We All Muz be Proud of OUR ASIAN IDOL, HADY MIRZA…:)……wish everyone the best and may god bless them…and keep soaring to greater heights now and to the future…:)…stop critisizing as he is Known as our asian idol and if this continues is a though as we are humiliating our own asia coz Hady is representing US……:)

if mike or jac or mau were to win, the other 3 countries supporters will not be happy quoting indonesia/ malaysia and philipphines is a big country….
no one will ever be satisfied. Just live with it he is singapore and asian idol.
Yes perhaps singapore don’t have a big music industry but he sang with his heart and won voters…. having the package of looks humbleness and voice i guess he is the package an idol is all about. Its true sometimes instead of the idol the runner up will carve a better career so as asian we should be proud of him he won rite? Asian Idol is supposed to the the coming together of all the idols to celebrate singing prowess, etc. Who ended up as the actual winner is actually of little consequence to us the common people.

But when a faulty voting system just loused things up like this, it’s just … Trying to convince ourselves otherwise when it is less than believable is just difficult to stomach. It is insulting to the intelligence.

This Idol comp is not just about your singing talent but overall package… You also cannot judge a person’s voice quality merely on 2 songs…The bottom 3, (Hady included, as most of you seem to agree on) happen to be those with the most commercial value…. Hady just happened to be the more preferred choice… We should stop disagreeing on the winner but concentrate on supporting our Asian Idol.. I agree with the filipino judge that we should be united.. Whatever it is, all the idols are winners in their own ways…Congrats Hady Mirza, u have done Singapore proud!! We lurve uuuu!!!

Agree with Yang Zunyi, imagine if he is going to compete with other continents’ idols to represent Asia? Just listen to the difference of Beautiful Day of his and World Idol winner, Kurt Nielsen’s, it’s like heaven and earth….

He’s not that bad, he’s good, plus he’s good looking, certainly a good idol… but to think that only he will get an international recording contract and travel all over the world to watch idol contests, ugh… i think it’s unfair…Mike is definitely better and will make a really great quality album if given an international recording contract…

Oh, how I hope the BMG or EMI will be interested in Mike and offer him to make an album…

hi clive y not u suggest a good voting system. Initially my thought was the same as u. The voting system is faulty but think of these …. how can u actually have a proper voting system with so many country involved ?? I believe this is the best they can think of for now. Flawless or not there can never be a perfect one.
Someone say do it at neutral ground….still how to vote?? means all supporters that goes there can vote??

Yang Zunyi,
i think you got me wrong.

Nope i am not condemning Jaclyn. BUT, even if i did, what’s the big deal?
Afterall, everyone else is condemning Hady, aren’t they?

But that is besides the point.
What i am trying to say is there is more to ASIAN IDOL than just the ability to sing well.
If Asian Idol is all about singing, then i think they would have let the judges pick the winner afterall, they are the most ‘qualified’ ppl to decide the winner.
HOWEVER, Asian Idol also oversees other factors, and as a whole its not just abt singing.
You have got to have the whole package.
No doubt about that. That is the way the entertainment industry works.

Yes i do agree Hady’s voice didn’t really outshine the others like Mike, etc but i think he won because he is able to capture audiences’ attention and engage with them. He may not be a singer but he definitely is a performer. With a capital P, that is.
He’s very comfortable on stage.

Jac however, was to preoccupied with singing high notes. Just watch the Asian Idol again and you will definitely agree.
She was screaming he lungs out too much. And thus, there was no engagement between her and the audience. And to think that she is already an artist in msia, she should have done more than that.

But all that aside, i think after watching American Idol, you guys should understand that results can be unpredictable. And shocking too.

So why should we waste our time condemning Hady when we should actually feel happy for him and just hope he will do better next time.
Practice makes prefect, afterall.

Hady’s not that bad afterall. He HAS good voice but its just that his is not as good as some of the other idols.
:)

No Missy, u have to get the point correctly. Performer with a capital P? Captured audience attention? Comfortable on stage? Personality?

I MEAN LIKE, REALLY? U really think Hady won is bcoz of all those u mentioned?

Get the fact straight u Missy, Hady won is bcoz he was the worst and weakest performer on the show. If u understand the theory and psychology thinking behind the second choice vote. Ppl pick him as their second choice so it wont treathen their first choice. God, come on! what is so hard to understand that? its all over the internet!

And to hear u critisized jac singing just prove how desperate r u trying sooo hard to justify Hady’s winning, its not even funny.

Haha okay, okky, Hady worst singer in the show? Either you’re from India, or you’re a guy whose girlfriend’s falling for Hady.

We all know how this program works, cuz our own country did this before. And more often than not, it’s not always the vocal quality that wins votes from the mass, it’s also about the overall package.

It’s just too bad that the deserved idols weren’t crowned the Asian idol. We all know all these six idols, are winners in their own way. Hady is the asian idol. He’s from Singapore, a small country, only identified with a small red dot in the map of the world. So? Come on, don’t be sore about it. Don’t blame it on biasness whatsoever?

We have to move on with life. And live happily ever after all across Asia. We shall resolve who get Pedra Banca, talk about issues on global warming, extinguish corruptions, and world peace this christmas.

Merry Christmas and a happy new year.

None of the best singers won Idol 9with the exception of Carrie Underwood) .. eg, Melinda Dolittle, Jeniffer Hudson, Daughtry, Yamin..etc..the people who won usually do so because they have a likeability factor that transends thru their singing. Hady is cute and very likeable. Not the best voice, but definitely the whole package.. Way to go HADY MIRZA, Indonesia loves U…

To be honest, I really did not expect Hady Mirza to attain the Asian Idol title amidst strong competition from powerful singers such as Mike, Jac and Mao who are undeniably having a stronger voice. I am truly proud of him for winning the title and bringing Singapore more fame from his win, although I am still very much surprised. You could see that he himself was surprised.

Just give him a chance to show his real potential by being the first Asian Idol. Although he is not that good vocally, he is able to capture audience attention easily. This is not seen in the other contestants. Hady shows a lot of energy and enthusiasm while the rest seems to be concerned more on their vocal singing. You may say that this is a SINGING TALENT man! Well, you can’t away from the fact that a singer must have an overall package no matter how good your vocal talent are. Sing, looks, personality, bla bla bla…all of these are important. 1st impression counts. 2nd voice.

Anyway, the final winner comes from all of your votes, all of you, here in Asia. Since you have the right to choose, the final decision and the winner is all really because of us. If we are not happy with the results now, why don’t we just eliminate the voting system and based fully on judges marks for maybe the next season of Asian Idol? Or the voting system should be re-evaluated and improved and be given a lower weightage than judges marks- maybe 40% against 60%?

What is for sure. Everyone is already a winner. But our Asian Idol is the most outstanding winner himself. Let us all support him! If we don’t and still feel the winner unfit, why organise an Asian Idol in the first place?

To quote okky:

“And the first ASIAN IDOL is…

HADY MIRZA from Singapore!

and then..i was totally shocked!”

———————————————-> AND I SCREAMED FOR JOY!

totally UNexpected –>Yes!…. totally OVERjoyed –> YES!!

Hady, you make Singaporeans everywhere proud!!
** And you were very very lucky!! **

Even though you were not the best singer in the competition, and you chose the wrong songs (i had hope that you would do a jazz number that suit your vocals much better), YOU WON, SINGAPORE WON! ^_^

On the contrary to other comments, my vote goes to:

I really enjoyed Abhijeet (Hindi song) and Phuong Vy (English song) best… because they were ENTERTAINING, HAPPY and something different, that’s what Asian Idol should be, showcasing different talents from Asia. (Shouldn’t there be a Thailand Idol too?)

Mau – I expected a better performance from her actually, she has a good powerful voice but she chose so serious songs, not everyone understand Tagalog so melody is impt too. Also she’s young but that night she was made up to look like a fat aunty! :(

Jaclynn – I enjoyed her opening English song, cheerful and entertaining but when it comes to her Malay song, OTT definitely, it’s too loud on my ears until it becomes not music but noise, & yep i agree with judge Ken, she definitely looked bored.

Mike – hello Reuben? he’s such a copycat. And his song “I Believe I Can Fly”… goodness, so glaringly funny right… and we’ve heard this song like a thousand times before… so to me, his performance and style is very very common.

I’m not trying to be prejudice here. The fact is that Hady had won. So we just have to deal with it whether you guys like it or not.
To be honest Mike is one of my favourites and hoping that he won. Like what I said earlier on, we just have to move on. We have to respect the decision made by Asian and give our support to the winner as he is going to represent Asia. We should not arguing with one another due to this. I mean we should be united as one Asian and support one another. Where’s the Asian spirit people?
Those idols that compete already have their own talent and that is why they are there. Every idols have their own strengths. It is not fair to judge the weakest point of the contestant only but we have to look at the strongest point too. Everyone is different in their own way. Maybe Hady didn’t show his full potential during the Asian Idol performances, but he did in his other performances. I do take a look at the youtube video and he sang quite well. I was impressed. I think he got the whole package to enter this industry. That is what this industry is looking for.
Now in this century people are not only looking at talent but the whole package. So what if they have good vocal but no fans in the end. Who wants to buy their album then?
Talking about the voting system, everyone thinks that if they vote the weakest performance as their second choice and the best as the first, so that the first choice has a better winning. Then i think it might not be true. I wonder who came out with this kind of theory? Let think it this way, If everyone has this kind of mentality, this means that the 2nd choice would have a better chance of winning since everyone will be voting the same thing. So the probability of the 2nd choice is higher compared to the first one. Lets take this as an example. If everyone will be voting Malaysia or Indonesia or Philippines( it means that there are 1/3 chance of this country to be voted as the best) as their 1st choice and the 2nd choice would be Singapore as the weakest contestant. Therefore, the chances are high for Singapore contestant isn’t it? Then isn’t it better if you vote the first and the 2nd choice Indonesia, Malaysia or Philippines. Then the chances are higher for either one of this country to win.
I think we should stop condemning Hady but to give him our full support. We need that Asian spirit back people.

1st congrats to hady. its surprise that you won(might be his attitude of giving his best and not stressing which might keep him well). To all people who are complaining i think should be it to stop. it happens where one win the rest protest. this goes the same when world idol was held years back where kurt nelson won instead of kelly clerkson. already there are post ppl saying vote for your country and vote for the worst. even this happen this could be the result. also vote for the best at least you will feel better if the 2nd best of your choice won. remember how kelly lost to kurt(just because of one country rank kelly on 8th of 10th place)? i doubt not alot people here remember this controversy. i am sure there is winner and looser like simon say why on earth making 9 different country contesting and making 8 looser out of it. thats why simon did not like the idea.

i am sure this era people looks on whole package. which include looks personality and character and voice. he might have most of it if u compare the rest. and the crowd are mostly girls on the run. it contradicting. so don’t dull over it.

i not happy with the result showing if u do notice. they should release the ranking order of the votes instead(i know its sensitive if the total % is out) just like the one in World Idol held year back. if i not wrong i am sure not all country hady did win the 2nd most votes. it difficult to judge if there is unfair if its not release.

In all of all, i whole package vs voice. this era people do not look for voice only. as u can see Guy Sebastian did not win world idol (if not wrong he rank 5 or 6th place) if u got the character you can find your way to the international stage.

About the public votes vs the judges votes i think is fair as i think the marks on judges average is even or close. so its ending up more of the public votes.

I enjoyed his opening Indonesian song and he did a great job on that! :)

Just that I was disappointed with his choice of a common English song,
with his talent, i felt that he could have given a more unique performance ya?

Regarding the sms voting process, maybe next time the 1st country choice could be counted as 1 vote…but 2nd country choice could only account for 0.5 vote?

But the truth of the matter is, he IS the Asian idol. Why can’t we just support him? It’s sad that we as Asians don’t even have faith in our very own idol. It’s just sad.

HADY MIRZA, first ASIAN IDOL(:
well many would obviously be surprised by the results.
but honestly, i think, being an idol does not comes from the vocal, but also the attitude and talent that he or she posseses, its NOT just about singing.
hady may not have the best vocal and may not be as good as mike or jac, but he has all the characteristics that an idol needs.
He does have a great voice because i’ve seen the videos in youtube and unfortunately he chose the wrong songs for the asian idol.
he looks really comfortable on stage and the thing is that he is HIMSELF.
he’s Hady Mirza.
like what one of the judges had commented on him, being natural and just being himself and that apparently outshines him from the rest.
i’m sure you want the idol from your country to win but hey, we’re all asians and we should be proud of that. we’re all the SAME. im from indonesia and definitely i would like to see Mike gets the title. however, things just dont go the way you want them to.
and to think of it, singapore is a small country, and having to see the nation voting for him to win till the numbers outnumber the rest, i’m impressed at the nation’s spirit.
common asia, be more open minded and the results are clear,
HADY MIRZA IS OUR ASIAN IDOL(:
he DESERVES it.
its not just about singing guys.its more than that.
and its DEFINITELY not a shame for him to represent asia in any competiton.(:
cos if he can do his country proud, im sure he can do ASIA proud(:
i’m proud of you Hady(:
and i’m definitlely proud of mike.((:its okay even if you don’t win, indonesia still loves you! and we will still be behind you all the way!

much love,

all you guys who condemnd Hady are juz so stupid and ignorant of the results wich is 50% judges and 50% votes:

1.Hady Mirza (Singapore) 28%
2.Jaclyn Victor (Malaysia) 27%
3.Abhijeet Sawant(India) 15%
4.Mau Marcelo (Philippines) 12%
5.Phoung Vy (Vietnam) 11%
6.Mike Mohede (Indonesia) 7%

People say Jac’s the best, but her performance was ,sorry to say, baaaaaddd..she concentrated too much too look like she’s an international artiste and sang like she’s the diva while most of the tym, she’s juz- screaming..

Fr wat i heard and read, Mau’s a diva..but wen she performed that night, i was like, this is wat u cal a diva?

Mike, hey, hu needs a 2nd Ruben? And juz see wateva happend to Ruben? He’s- Gone?

Nonetheless, i totally agree that they’ve got great vocals..All the 6 idols have got good vocals or else they wont be their homecountries’ Idols right?

Vy and Abhijeet, they’re good, perhaps Vy picked the wrong songs cos she totally rocked I Love Rock & Roll while Abhijeet? Hey, he’s not that comfortable in English but he’s great, only lacked of confidence..otherwise..he’s goooooddd…

Let’s juz face it, Hady’s cool, charming, has got a good stable voice and ultimately, he’s modest..he’s performances were effortless and natural..He’s like the male version of Siti Nurhaliza.. Yes, Hady was wrong to sing Beautiful Day but looked at him performing Through The Fire, Faithfully, Lagenda, Freedom in Spore Idol,go search at youtube, you’ll completely change your mind..and yes, he CAN compete against other nations/continents, you’re all juz sore losers cos your homecountry(s) lost..we shud b supporting Hady as an Asian Idol as a whole,as an Asian, not jus as a Singaporean..and sumone above said that the theory of 2 choices is to pick the weakest as the 2nd choice so as to minimise the winnings/votes fr the stronger contestants? You’re wrong, i voted for Hady and Mau cos after Hady, i wan sumone with good vocals and interesting personality to win..

To me, all the 6 Idols are on par wif each other..juz bcos 1 nation is bigger/smaller/richer/poorer/differ culture/diff lang doesnt make them a bad Idol cos if they were, they wuldnt have been the Idol of their own countries..

When people say Mau, Mike and Jac were the better 3,it’s cos they’re trying it so hard, itz almost against their own will to perform while Abhijeet, Vy and Hady were all said to be the bottom 3 was cos they’re chill and cool and obviously comfortable and confident of what they’re delivering..

Hady is the best!! Roar Hady Roar!!

I totally agree with ‘horsetail. First and foremost, let me stress out that Hady has already won the competition. No matter how much you guys condemn him, the result will never change. Personally, I felt that Asian Idol is about celebrating the power of music & unite people from different Asian countries together. What a shame when I realise that some of you Asian people keep putting Hady down rather than supporting him.

And 1 thing that I realise when it comes to Hady is that most of you critics can point out quite a number of positive things about him, for example, good-looking, dashing, humble, boyish-smile, has commercial value except for voice or rather lacks of it. But when it comes to Mau, Jac or Mike, the only positive things that you can point out are strong vocals. What else? I admit that I do vote for Hady and Mike, because personally, I felt that Asian Idol is about someone who we can idolise, and it is not only based on the singing talent but an overall package. And for me Hady and Mike totally fit into that category.

So for now, let’s sit back and relax guys. Criticising someone too much is not healthy ok! =)

Hello everybody. First off, I’m a Singaporean (just thought I should establish that.)

Anyway, when the results were announced, I was stunned and started laughing hysterically/yelling “How did Hady win?!”. It’s not because I don’t like him, but more because I was convinced Mau/Mike were gonna win with Jac as the dark horse due to their stunning vocals. But my astonishment has given way to reluctant pride for my countryman. Whether or not he was the second vote for whatever reasons, Asia voted him in. And that’s that. It doesn’t take anything away from the talents of the other 5, nor does it make them losers. It’s just that there are so many factors that come into play in a talent/popularity contest y’know?

So now, all we can (well…should) do is wait and see if our new Asian Idol will prove his worth. And hopefully, he will. Just give him time. The idea of a 6 way cultural exchange is a beautiful one..it would be a downright pity to tarnish that will negativity when we need to unite as a continent in these volatile times and support each other.

Peace!

Gue jg ga nyangka.

Just 5 words to Clive and Yang Zunyi: YOUR LOSS IS OUR WIN.
Hell, why not both of you grouse over this in the national papers and Announce it over the radio? Or write to the Asian Idol Committee about the “insult to the INTELLIGENCE” voting system.
And a lot of people out there “Cant imagine both of you to represent Asian country in anything except being the Top Asian Grouch Idol on World Stage!” Go ahead, entertain us. Gripe over it to the whole wide world to the unintelligent people who voted unintelligently.
Or was it YOU who didnt vote intelligently? And humour me if you can overturn the results. What’s done is done.

This is just my opinion, no offence intended.

hi guys! its really amusing how u people reacted to Hady’s winning the first ever Asian Idol. To Doldadi, kudos to u. U can be the next idol judge lol. i really liked it. Not everybody likes to hear the “BIGGER VOICE”, u see??!! If u have a very Big Voice, it has to match with ur personality…ur performance on stage…the way u work the crowd,…which i think Mau, vic, and Mike didn’t have that nite. So, its like something is missing. I voted for Hady and Abijeet that nite. I think they both deserve it cos they managed to capture the “essence of the moment” by just singing their hearts out, not ’shouting’ or be technically boring like a robot. I personally don’t want a ‘MADE UP TO LOOK LIKE AN AUNTY ‘ (Mau)Asian Idol or a ‘MORE LIKE A BEAUTY PAGEANT CONTESTANT’ (vy) Asian Idol, or a ‘V. GD VOICE BUT BORING ‘(Mike) Asian Idol, or a ‘ SHRIEKING AND PROUD ‘ (vic) Idol…U see..Expressions are captured very well on cameras, u can’t lie on tv…Ur audiences can see and feel ur sincerity. Any way..CONGRATS to HADI MIRZA!! He should have sung the song “thru the fire” tho’. Its just him…melt my heart ..U go boy!! Rezki Beb!!

One vote… 2 countries. This system will backfire when ppl try to vote ensuring their country win. It will work better when ppl vote their country plus one more whom they think is equally good EVEN if it means their home representative may fall behind. Then the system will work better.

Hady mirza you just did the magic, charming the show with hindi song and got all the votes from india.

You are a malay and sing the malay song. With your handsome face which mesmerised all the girls, you got the votes from the young chick from Malaysia and Indonesia.

Of all the contestants obviously you speak the better English and therfore you got the votes from all the english speaking people of Philippines and Singapore.

You look very chinese and therefore you get the votes from the vietnamise and all the chinese in the south east Asia. You are truly asian Idol.

Jac is too proud to begin with.
Its a singing competition. All are singers but personality counts too. Being humble and sincere is a factor too.
Hady may not be the best but he won the hearts of the voters. Be it his hardcore fans or simply by second vote, he won and yes he is the Asian Idol.
No doubt abt his ability. Congrats Hady. A true and humble winner.
U made us proud Hady Mirza. All 6 are winners in their own country. Good luck to all

I totally SALUTE to all of you ASIANS out there who see this Asian Idol positively, in a positive manner and giving positive insights. None of us will condone any unconstructive talk about the better who that should have won. The way some people put it as if to condemn the win. Think about it, IF Mike would have won, he is TOTALLY the WEAKEST contestent?? HUH?? Or Jac or Mau?? And moan around others that the winner is actually the loser? What a laugh! So where were the rest of the people who could have and can afford to vote? India has approximately 1.136 billion people, Indonesia 234 million, Philippines 91 million, Vietnam 85 million, Malaysia 24 million, Singapore a MINUTE of 4, – that is “FOUR” – , million INCLUDING 409,771 FOREIGNERS who could have choose to vote someone else!! And pls, pls, pls someone out there… enlight us with the numbers to Hady’s fan base! (dontcha think it’s more minuscule??)
Mike, Mau, Jac, Abhijeet and Phuong Vy, YOU are all our magnificent Asian Idols Winner! Each and everyone of You is the WINNER! And dont forget everyone DO NOT share the same brains!! Those who have voted their Idol choice may not necessarily vote Hady as the weakest but to them the second preferred, DUHH!! So move on, people!! There are other more important ASIAN plights to see to and alleviate!

It is disgusting to see how many people are slandering Hady for his win. There can only be one winner, right? So what is the big deal if Hady won when all the other contestants are already winners in their own right?

I am Singaporean and when I watched Singapore Idol, I was rooting for Hady. For the record, I am a not “toned-deaf boy-babd loving” girl. Hady isn’t even boyband material so please get your ideas sorted out about that. I was rooting for him because Hady’s voice was unique and had a moving quality to it.

When I heard of Asian Idol and Hady representing Singapore, I was telling my family that the chances for Hady are slim because of the fact that he is against the power house voices like Mau, Mike and Jac. Yes, they were extremely good. Hady did not give as good as a performance as he is capable of probably due to the bad song choice.

All the while I thought the competition was between Mau, Mike and Jac and the other three drowned off into oblivion. When Hady won, he gave a stellar performance. The emotions he was supposed to deliver got delivered in the song after his victory. At that point,I realised he deserved the win because he was the only one in the entire 2 day even to make me have chills.

So stop bashing him for his victory. If people wanted Mau or Mike or whoever else to win, they should have jolly well voted hard enough. And like someone mentioned, the contest is about voting. Now that the result is out, why the bout of sour grapes. We have an Asian Idol who has a shine so why not be proud of who he is and for representing Asia instead of trying to tarnish his name just because the other idols did not win.

BUT U REALIZED THAT IT’S A SING COMPETION…..NOT A MODEL!!!!!!
OK, the whole package right? so what’s wrong with the others???ya i know that mike is big as mau, but……the point is PERFORMANCE NOT A FACE OR BODY!!!!! think about that!

If mike win, people will say he had the advantage of home ground.

If jac won, you people will say she already a singer and well known in the region

Just look at it this way :

If Mike were to win, Mau’s and Jac’s fans will all come together and ‘condemn’ Mike, and will say that both of them have better voice than him.
It works that way. Whoever wins, the others will protest.
Esp when everyone is voting for their countryman.
Don’t you guys think so?

I am not a die-hard Hady fan. Nope.

But i think that of all the contestants, he really outshine.
And Yang Zhuyi, or was it someone else?
I did not condemn Jac the way you were condemning Hady.
And you definitely has misinterprete my comment wrongly.
And why are you so fed up with the fact that im rooting for Hady?
Afterall, most of them here are doing the exact same thing.
God.

Yes yes yes, Mike, Mau and Jac has great, super great voice.
BUT, their performances were to technical.
They weren’t performing but were just singing their lungs out to show off their vocals in the hope that the judges will comment their super great voices.

However, Hady, Abijheet and Vy were very calm and relax on stage. They were performing for the audience. So in a way, they were able to connect with the audience.

However, Hady’s performance outshines because,
1. he is able to communicate in english better than the other idols. some of them have accents too thick to unbderstand what they were saying.
2. he has the whole package. hes charming, he has a good voice (only mistake was wrong choice of song) and hes very down-to-earth. like what others were stating, jac was too over-confident. and its definitely a good personality an idol should posses.

don’t u guys think so?

again,im giving my 2 cents worth based on what i see on the asian idol.
and im definitely NOT hady’s die-hard fan.

its a waste of time to grumble about Hady’s winning, people.
He deserved it.
And Rynie, there is more to Idol competition than singing talent itself.
Just look at all the artists we have.
The very popular ones i mean.
They all are good-looking.

I was watching Asian Idol in my hotel room during my stay in Chennai and I’m a fan of Idol series. I was intrigued by the diverse cultures and colors that blend together on one platform, Asian Idol. It was heart warming to see a harmonious mix. However, it is such a disgrace that this continent, though is diverse, and portrays unity among Asians during the performance show, exemplify an opposite reactions that I was not hoping to see thereafter. Asian Idol, what I strongly believe was held to unite Asians, not to divide. Where is that ‘Asian resilience’ that I have been seeing among many throughout my stay in this continent? Has it been plagued by bad press and negative forumers? Or has Asians transformed into internet barbarians?

After I think about it, it is not so bad that Hady won. Better than if Vy or Abhijeet did, cos they were just not good enough according to the ASIA standard.

Just be honest, Abhijet’s Everything I Do sucks. There’s no reason it’s not his language, everyone else sang English song and sounded clear enough (even Mike whose English I think is the worst of all), and he sang like he’s very struggling to hit the notes. The second performance wasn’t very impressive either cos the song is repetitive, monoton, and boring.

Hady on the other hand, even if his voice isn’t the best but he’s got the looks and charisma and stage skills to cover that up. Plus, he’s familiar with quite a lot Asian language (for one, Indonesian), that is a big factor to capture audience’s attention.

Who said Mike = Ruben? I think Mike has a better stage charisma and more soothing voice than Ruben, and their voices are different, too. Don’t judge him just because his body is like Ruben’s… Why don’t u say the same about Mau who is like Mandisa or Lakisha (American Idols)? They are complemented to have a very good voice, but now where are they? They’re just the same with Ruben, with the exception Ruben has had 3 albums already. Though I admit Mike’s a bit monotonous to watch in the stage, but who cares about looks when you’re listening to music? Music lovers will just sit down, listen to his voice, and appreciate it. If you really care about looks, stage presence, stage actions, that’s what actors (either movies or theater actors) are for… Music is meant to be listened to, IMHO, not watched. The live performance is like a bonus for the fans to listen to their fav idols sing in front of them.

didnt this blog owner already explained very detailed in the second paragraph on the top that the reason Hady won is bcoz of the flaws in the voting system? Why would u still have to lie to your self that his performance outshine the rest thats why he won? and NO, we still didnt see how he outshined the rest based on your points on how he does that!

And for your info, if Mike wins, or Jac or Mau, the others fans wont condemn the winner, bcoz anyone of them really deserves it.

First of all, I’m Hans from the Philippines. To tell you honestly, i wasnt happy with the result. Yes, even if Mirza’s coach is a Filipina, Babes Conde. I felt that the result is unacceptable, because it hasnt become a win based on talent anymore, but on the votes. The whole process of selecting the winner was scrumbled because of the voting system.

Hady seemed to not give his best, while Mau, Mike, and to some extent, Jaclyn, performed to the top of their lungs, beating the highest note they can reach. Hady’s performance was simple. He won because of the perplexed system of voting in the Asian Idol. Plus he directly or indirectly solicited support from the indonesian populace by stating his indonesian roots.

In the end, he won because the text votes, and not for his talent.

Why would they when they know very well that EVERY VOTE COUNTS? Don’t create big issues out of little stuffs can? HE DESERVED TO WIN THIS,period. Infact, he already won. get that in you head. I was totally dissapointed with the results. Mike from Indon or Jacylyn from Malaysia suppose to win the first idol. Both singers have superb vocal talent and star quality. We need either one of them to represent us in the world idol. Not someone who is just plain good looking.

The host did mention that the results were VERY CLOSE. I want the Asian Idol 2007 committee to release the official vote count or statistic of votes for every singers. By the way; Singapore is a small country with an estimated population of 4,553,009 (as of July 2007).

It seems that the prototype ‘two singer one vote system’ is not working at all to select an all rounded singer. It tends to benefit a second hand singer.

Hope the Asian Idol comittee is able to work out a better voting system in future for a FAIR outcome!

I like what Ken Lim, the Singapore judge sums up of the event, as quoted by a Singapore reporter: “I told him, don’t compete. And that’s exactly what he did. He was relaxed, he had no pressure on him, and it showed. While the rest of his competitors indulged in vocal gymnastics and tried real hard to impress, Hady stood out for being natural and cool.”
Keeping this on a maturity basis, my friends and I agree on one thing, some of the Idols were showing off too much of their vocal prowess, it turned us off in the end. :(

If Mike won, do you want millions of backlash to come to you with people accusing Mike of gaining home ground because of getting the most local votes?? Yikes!! Seems none of us will ever be satisfied of the “who deserved to be the actual winner”.

This is what i found in Wikipedia on Asian Idol.

“There are, however, concerns about the accuracy of this voting procedure. As most if not all voters would have attempted to pair their own favorite with another contestant who in their view was the most unlikely winner so as to give their own singular favorite the most advantage possible (i.e. negative pairing). Under that circumstance, an undesirable effect may be that the unintended negative votes would actually accumulate to a large number if the majority decided on the same contestant as the candidate for negative pairing. In that event the result could be interpreted as voting for not the most popular idol but for a contestant that viewers believe to be the weakest candidate to become Asian Idol.”

Understand now? How do u expect us to accept the Asian Idol that was the weakest among the 6?

First of all, i would like to congratulate Hady for becoming the 1st asian idol.

Secondly, I would like to remind all people here that all 6 representatives in asian idol are already a winner in their countries. Thus, it is not fair to say that Hady’s voters are a bunch of tone-deaf teenage girls.

Here are my comments on the contestants:

Jac: She has an outstanding voice and an effortless stage performance even when reaching for extremely high notes. However, I agree with Ken Lim (Singapore) when he said that Jac’s looks bored while singing. I didn’t get the message of the song she was singing. It’s as if she is going through the motion, thus looked arrogant.

Mau: Another outstanding voice and can manage to reach both low and high notes beautifully not to mention amazing personality (see the “road to asian idol”). Nevertheless, being an idol is not only a matter of voice but appearance as well (shallow? i know) why? because you are dealing with voters here. common people. Not musicians like the judges.

Mike: Angelic voice, very soothing, great with improvising, adorable character. I think he has difficulties with low notes (that’s why he’s not to good when singing with Guy) and his english is not to good and cannot sing up beat musics well. Same with Mau, appearance matters.

Abhijeet: Divine & enchanting voice, charming, great stage performance ( he really knows how to work with the fans :) )…I love love love him. He is fresh, and brought a unique feel into the contest. Not really good in using english (very surprising, since all indian people i know speaks english very well). His “Jonoon” performance was breathtaking..especially the ending. Although he was strugling in that bryan adams’ song, but i think he’s quite good. In fact, i think he was the second strongest candidate for asian idol

Vy: Powerful voice and has classic asian beauty. Bad song choices and thick accent. I think if she had chosen the right songs, she might become asian idol

Hady: Oh, what more can i say bout him? I’m not a fan, but I can see that his boyish charm, good looks, sweet smile and stage performance are great. He’s multi-lingual and his voice is actually really good (listen to his “berserah” song) eventhough not as magnificent as mau, mike & jac. But overall he has all package to be an asian idol.

So lastly, everyone’s a winner. Why don;t we all congratulate Hady for his winning?

Yang Zunyi,
Now I accept your comments if you sincerely had no intentions of criticizing, and I take back my words if they were way too harsh. But we must not forget the others who actually sincerely voted for Hady as their first choice and whatever reasons behind it. And why the large votes? Yeah, me still figuring it out and yes I’ve already read the WIkipedia way b4hand b4 posting. And I have come to like Hady too even if I had not voted for him.

Just imagine yourself in Hady Mirza’s shoes. Feeling so happy and grateful for winning the Asian Idol cos you were being voted most by people who thought you are worthy of being The Asian Idol.

and then the very next day, you turn on your computer, go to http://www.indradiky.com and see all these hate comments about yourself. Seeing people comment harshly on you just because you won when people actually expected Mau, Mike or Jac to be the winner. Seeing people say that you are not good enough to be the idol Asia should idolize. Seeing people say that you won because you were voted because you were the weakest competitor among the 6.

…how would you feel?

ya i know this is a place where everyone’s views and opinions are welcomed. and people can comment whatever they want to. Ya, so thats exactly the reason why im now commenting on this blog-turned-into-a-comment-page to say that there’s no wrong in trying to be considerate and respecting others right?

spare hady mirza a thought, people.
He is the Asian idol whether you like it or not cos YOU voted for him because you think he’s the best. Or vice versa.

yaaaay, now that things are starting to get better and people are now starting to respect one another’s comments, lets all bury the hatchet, shake hands and continue living peacefully + happily as one happy Asian family!

dont fight anymore kay cos i love Asia and i dont want us to be in bad terms just because of one Asian Idol which we will forget in another 2 or 3 weeks. love all! ((:

if what wikipedia stated is really true, then i think all these should stop.
firstly, if u read thru all of the ‘hate-comments’ made against Hady (and in youtube too),
you guys might have realized that many mentioned that Hady was vocally unreliable.
that should stop because its you voters who voted for him.

secondly, STOP claiming that the voting system is pathetic and not accurate cos apparently, you were asked to vote 2 of ur fav idols.

if you voted for ur countryman as the first vote, and another contestant which you think is the second-best, even if ur countryman did not win, at least the one who performed well will be able to win.

if u think Hady is not good enough and since he came from a small country and put him as ur second choice, then its ur fault. u wud have thought of the consequence.

its not the voting system thats unreliable.
its the voters themselves who refused to think otherwise.

‘if i put the weakest performer as my second choice, then the chance that my country will win will be greater.’
this thinking is very pathetic.

u SHOULD have thought :
‘if everyone thinks that by putting the weaker performer as the second choice would help, then its him who will get more votes. then its him who will win’.

so now do you guys think that if you were to obliged to the ‘vote for 2 of your FAVOURITES’ at least if ur countryman did not win, someone else who deserved will win.

so stop all these blaming on Hady and Hady’s fan and the girls for voting for him.

whats done is done.
come to think of it, Hady do have good vocal. only that it wasnt portrayed during the comp.
:)

anyways, i found one of Hady’s fan club website.
He left a message there and im so proud reading it cos he’s so humble and very grateful that he won.
Hes definitely not arrogant and he even stated that what is important in this competition is the bond we created between all asians.

from this uproad comments here, i think its very disgraceful.
we are all asians, and if the winner of asian idol thinks more of the friendship made, why should we be so cold towards each other?

oh come on people! if u all check out the wining percentage, we can see obviously that Mike got the lowest percentage while weaker contestants like Vy and Idian Idol(forgot his name) got higher percentage….. why? because its obvious that those who would have voted for Hady, or Jac or whoever, wouldn’t have chosen Mike as the 2nd fav contestant, because everyone would have tot that Mike would get a lot of votes, so to be smart, they did not vote for Mike

This is definately not fair. Its never fair for voters/fans to vote. Cause as a matter of fact, 98% of the voters never go for talent, but they go for their idol/looks/same country. I think the next time such competitions are ever held again, organisers should get INTERNATIONAL judges, and not judges from each of the respective participating country. And then rely 100% on the judges, if not minimal percentage for voters. Jac, Mau or Mike should have won…. definately NOT Hady.

hey missyI

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU!! YOU GO GIRL!!

wat you said is true! if they complain so much about hady is not the deserving idol and mau or jac should win, then why did they vote for hady in the 1st place??!!
they make it sounds soooo professional.. criticise Hady for this and tat. but wat about themselves??? they did not vote professionally. i tink they got beaten by their own game.

SO, Y COMPLAIN? GET REAL! THE RESULT WAS CREATED BY THEM. SO – LIVE WITH IT!

by the way.. whoever that come out with this 2nd idol theory is really really dumb. if suddenly the other 4 or 5 countries feel that the reason hady won is due to this theory, then did they actuallly check what this theory equation equals to when decide to carry on with this theory?

i tink they have this I AM STUPID printed on their forehead.

man.. even my toes are laughing now!! LOL

I’m really2 surprised when Ata announced that hadi to be a winner. according to me, hadi is clearly didn’t have a good voice between other contestant. i am not agree if they said Jac didn’t good performance but i think she is the best also Mau. i like them because they really2 good singer and it must be success if they sing in america. Jac like Vonzell Solomon american idol season 4, and Mau like Mandisa or Lakisha american idol. if hadi go to world idol, and there are simon cowell be a judge, i don’t know what the hell simon said about hadi perform. actually we are not to see his package because he is good looking, but there is very important is about voice because this is song contest not to be a model.

It is really unfortunate that the fact that Hady was the weakest contestant was so glaringly plain for all to see.
The people who call a behind a face are those who would say the earth is flat if it suits them.
What is just and what is not just everyone knows and God knows. Denial does not make the earth flat.

I don’t get you people.
First you blame that Hady doesn’t deserve to be the winner. Fine, that one is acceptable as your next argument is to say that other vocalist fared better. I agree… but then, you say that the voting system is unfair… pointing that the voting system sucks and pathetic.. then again, the hosts reminded vote for your countrymen/women as choice 1 and the best, or 2nd best as choice 2… you voted your countrymen/women, and select Hady Mirza as 2nd choice thinking he doesn’t stand a chance.. don’t you think the blaming finger should points back at you?! YOU’RE THE STUPID AND PATHETIC VOTER, NOT THE VOTING SYSTEM!
Secondly, before the competition starts, he admitted not having the best vocal and don’t think that he could win. This tells that Hady, didn’t choose to win. And in fact, he didn’t try as hard to win as other competitors. Maybe the reason for the wrong song choice. AND NOW HE WINS, IT’S NOT HIS FAULT! YOU, THE STUPID PATHETIC VOTER VOTED FOR HIM AS 2ND CHOICE!!!! SO HE WINS!
So, it’s your fault that he wins, thus, don’t be even dumber to condemn him for his victory. The one that is to be condemned is you, the stupid pathetic voter! Don’t you even, in the righteous state of mind realized that by bashing him, you’re actually bashing yourself? Coz you’re bashing the Asian idol, who won through the majority votes of Asian, and simply put, the nation of a continent where you were born and bred. Asia, as one, includes you. The more you condemn Hady, the more you’re actually condemning yourself loosers!

I’m from Indonesia.Personally for me, Jac is the best (i’m sorry Mike …) I’m so stunned with your comments people. But to me … really, Asia is the wineer. I totally realize that Asian Idol is not a comprtition which contestants competing based just on their singing skills, but on their performances too as well. Its about how they win the hearts of people.

We can judge hady is not a really good singer. But it happens all the time right? Lots of great talented singers eliminated in the Idol Series, wether it is Asian, American or indonesia Idol. Why? Because the great talented singers don’t have the ability to win the hearts of people.

Hady … what can I say… I really like it when he sang “Berserah” it touched my heart so deeply bcoz the song is about a man totally giving / surrender his live in God’s hands. I read that it is taufik batisah’s song and people say that taufik sing better than hady

Oh … BTW i wantt to add another reason why Hady Wins:
He got the votes from Muslim audiences! Sincerely, I as a muslim want to have a muslim Idol because Idol Series tend to won by non-Muslim contestants … but probably it’s just my theory … no offense

To the self-proclaimed Intelligent Thinker:
Yes, the voters who defied instructions are indeed losers. BUT, that does not make Hady or you winners as well.
The protest is against a badly planned survey that went wrong and also against people who jumped on the chance to claim victory and glory taking advantage of the wrong that is so plain to see.
When people voiced their opinion that Hady was the weakest contestant, he should be able to take it like a man as I am sure that in his heart he knows he was.
Saying ‘what’s done is done and so live with it’ is the mentality of people who would knowingly condone something that is known to be wrong when it suits them.
There is no winners in this competition. The organisers have really messed it up big time.

look at the positive way…

most people very dissapointed with the result because “the best” is not a winner…..and hady? he’s not the best in vocal or performance…..
i think he’s so standard,………
eventhough, it’s singing competion (who became an idol) which is the all contestant has to sing here. that’s why they have to sing very well………

and for the whole package, all the contestant are have it. but for a cute or handsome, well, ya i agree some of them haven’t…
and with that factor maybe hadi won…..

who cares hadi feeling? ya i know maybe all of his fans…but not including me……..but if he’s a real idol, he can accept this and he’ll do better in next opportunity, think positif in that way,………CRITICSM CAN MAKE BETTER………..
i just wanna know what simon cowell think about this, maybe in world idol….and from asian idol………..i expected more than hadi can do…
cos asia has a lot of the people who really talented in music ……

so HADI do better Next time….
and…well…whatever about the result, it’s still u are the winner…..
once again….MAKE US PROUD TO HAS ASIAN IDOL LIKE U….
give us ur Best and not make us (including me) dissapointed.

and the big point is : all the words that i write on is really my opinion…and for the people who dont accepted,….well…that’s ur problems not mine!

YOU’RE right.. everyone here speaks their mind. SO, why get so upset?
duhh..

actually i’m not really interested WHO is the winner cos they are all winners in their country.
if they are no good, then they wouldn’t be the one to represent their country. so, at least show some respect. we did not critise the other idols.. so, we wouldnt want you to critise on our idol too.. fair enough?

what we want to say is, its not hady’s fault that he won. its the voters fault. so – go find those voters and wack them.. not hady. puhleeeze..

i’m more interested on WHO came out with such 2nd idol theory/idea that they should vote the weakest link in order for their fav to win.
dam it.. let me repeat for the 2nd time.

VOTE FOR YOUR FAV IDOL!!
IF HADY IS NOT YOUR FAV, Y EVEN BOTHER TO WORK OUT YOUR FINGERS TO KEY IN “SIN”

this is where things go wrong. and really.. who to blame. why dont those who is not happy with the result, create one site find those culprit.

cos this kind of 2nd idol mentallity sure tarnish the good name of Asian or watever Idol.

aiyooo, you people are such losers lah.

if you say that the organisers suck, then you become the organisers lah and see how ‘easy’ it is to organise.

if you say that Hady sings badly, then you go up on stage and sing lah. so that we can all laugh till we pee in our pants at your ‘oh-so-good’ singing.

if you say that the voting system is stupid, why did you even vote in the first place? aren’t you saying that YOU ARE STUPID for voting in a stupid voting system? even IF the voting system is stupid, it wouldnt hurt if YOU voted INTELLIGENTLY. doesnt that further substantiate my point that you are, im sorry to say, STUPID?

if you are seriously not happy with Hady winning, then go straight to his house and tell him straight in his face that he shouldnt have won, take the trophy and give it to the person whom you think should win so that it will make you happy and make you shut the fcuk up.

you wanna know who the real loser is? Okay, let me jollywell tell you who. Now take a mirror and take a good look at it. The reflection you see is the real loser here. DUH. you put in much effort to find faults in everything; first the voting system, then the organisers, then hady himself.

When are you ever gonna accept the fact that HADY fcuking WON?

and to ‘whatever’ who doesnt even dare to name him/herself who said “Yes, the voters who defied instructions are indeed losers. BUT, that does not make Hady or you winners as well.”, are you stupid or are you stupid?

How does WINNING the Asian Idol not make Hady the WINNER?

and mind you, having the ‘what’s done is done and so live with it’ mentality is waaaay better than having the “what’s done shouldnt be over and done with, so why not sulk all day and night long like a sore loser and find faults in everything besides yourself because you refuse to admit to your own fault that YOU voted UNintelligently” mentality.

aiyooo, accept the cold, hard fact that Hady Mirza is the winner and stop saying that Mau, Jac or Mike should have won cos the fact is that they didnt.
and if you’re still unhappy about that, organise your own ‘Asian Idol’ with Mike OR Mau OR Jac as the ONLY contestant so that you can be sure that he/she can definitely win so that you can hooray-hoorah over his/her win.

GROW UP people and stop sulking over Hady’s win. sheeeeeeeesh.

whatever (comment no. 158) : yes i agree with u. complaining wont change the result.
u should not have the mentality that ppl will vote for ur idol. if u want them to win, vote for them.
and u cant just assumed that mike, being an indonesian, and performing in indonesia itself, will win cos u think that indonesians will vote for him.
like mentioned earlier ‘evry vote counts’.
so, if u wan him to win, vote for him.
and i agree with intelligent thinker.
whats up with using profanities?
afterall, those who hate-comment hady, uses them too.

and all the 6 idols are already winners. it is just an extra bonus for hady.

u should have thought of the consequence that when evryone thinks by voting hady as the second choice will help ur countryman win, then think of this : isn’t everyone voting for hady as their second choice? and since evry vote counts, does that not mean that hady’s will win?

so stop sulking like sour grapes.
u made him the winner, u deal with it.

and u can argue that u didn’t vote for hady as ur second choice, well, your bad then that u didnt vote for ur FAV idol hard enough.

and since when do people read the VOCABULARIES to find the meaning of terrorist? for all i know, if i need to find the meaning of any word at all, i’d turn to the DICTIONARY, and definitely NOT VOCABULARY.

rynie, since you have an advice for Jannah, I have a piece of advice for you as well. Before you dare to TRY correcting someone’s english, correct yours first.

(:

I’m a Malaysian working in Singapore. I did not vote for Hady nor Mike. I think Jac deserved to be the winner but of course this happened. But if you were to think logically, if Mike or Mau were to rep for World Idol, chances are they may have to lose weight to look as good enough to garner more votes from countries outside Asia. Sadly to say, looks do matter, why the beauty contests and all those shit? In my line of work, if you got the brains but the lesser looks, you get passed over. Hady has the looks and only needs to improve on his vocals. Mike and Mau have the voice but cruelly enough have to “shape” up. Be realistic, how many of the young relate to the thin than the fat. Look at the majority of the popular international Western and Eastern singers. Anyways, Mike and Mau are winners at their own right. Whatever it is I will definitely support them and buy their albums!!

is critic must be softly? did i say : think in positive way?
look at this,
if people condemn hadi because his talent in sing a song not very well…
just improve the way you sing….and approve to the people (esp: for the people who dont support him) that you deserve and you can sing VERY WELL….sing better, choice a song better….prepare the performance well…..he can do better!!!
see…that’s the critics go on to…
for all those things, just hadi can decide is it critics or condemn…

did i dare to correct people’s english here?
no i didn’t!!! i dont correct english here! i’m not a teacher anyway..

and for jannah who said “perangai terorist” and it’s not about english!!!!! but the terorist meaning cos he/she said in bahasa not english!
yap i said vocabularies, not dictionary, is it should dictonary? well, i dont know with u horsetail, yeah if u want to know the meaning of something in word, u should do see that, but the advice for jannah….i think the vocab that she use for expression of terorist is wrong…that’s why he/she (for what i thought) see the vocab….well, for u horse tail, if u had advice for jannah to see the dictonary …just go a head, but thanks for giving me advise….
and btw, anyway busway……….ternyata memang benar lain padang lain belalang, lain orang lain udelnya hehehehehe sepertinya harus berfikir lebih international lagi neh……..have a nice long weekend guys…………..

yeah jannah
but i think just STUPID people who don’t open their mind which do the terorist thing if they opinion not get a good welcome for the others…more than that to be a terorrist….and once again…i have to say this : i’m not a terrorist……and i hate them u know, cos, one of my family died in bali.lho? kok jadi curhat? hehehehhe

Gw ga sedangkal itu kok…lagipula memang teroris itu harus orang muslim ya? gw rasa ga. bisa dilihat teroris di italia atau daerah meksiko sana….apa mereka muslim? nope…so for now dont ever say terorrist things here……just make a bad statement and opinion….

and please dont talk about politics ok!

Hady took his criticisms very well, it’s all in the papers, but you, when people criticise you, you did not take them well.

relax guys! the competition is over and we have ourselves a winner already. by the way, i don’t agree with the result either but what else can we do? its already a done deal. Hady is the winner. all we have to do is move on.

i voted many times last saturday night and all-day sunday. i have no idea how much i spent for this but i don’t mind. i voted mainly for mau and mike. bunch of my votes went to the two. but i cannot deny that i also threw in a good amount for Hady and Abhijeet. so there, in a way, i’m part of the reason why Hady won. and i’m sure most of you are too, you just don’t want to admit it. but anyways, i liked the malay song Hady sang, Berserah, though i didn’t understand any of it.

let’s just celebrate the music and diversity that is uniquely Asian. let’s stop all the fuss about Hady not deserving the title. be reminded, in one way or another, we helped him get majority of the votes.

i’m just glad that you guys reconize the talent of our very own Mau Marcelo and think that she has what it takes to be the Asian Idol. at least, she’s getting the recognition that even her fellow countrymen doesn’t give her. for that, thank you Asia.

this is also the first time that i heard jaclyn victor, mike mohede, hady mirza, phuong vy and Abhijeet sawant. i can definitely say that asian people are among the most talented people in the world.

COngrats, Hady Mirza. see you guys again on Asian Idol 2!

lucky u mirza =.=
lain kali bagaimana kalau votingnya:
(the best) (the worst)
example i choose the best: mike
the worst: hadi
then i sms: indo sing
so it is more fair…

with this system you can count +1 for mike and -1 for hadi
the winner is idol who have biggest point as usual

don’t you think that it’s a little too late to vent out frustrations now??? think wisely before voting since it involves money. you vote, you decide. so in the end HADY won, fair and square.

I rest my case.

normally, in this kind of voting, people tend to vote automatically for their favorite which is their home idol. Since you have to vote two,the weaker one will be given augmented favor, so when the weaker one got more percentage of the vote than the home idol thus the home idol falls, especially country of great population and vast texters they have the advantage. on my own next time this method should be reviewed, may i add, votation through texting should only be at 20 percent fifth part of the 100 percent criteria.

Yowezzlah,,kan gak mungkin keputusan diubah?? Walopun jempol gw kapalan, pulsa abiz, mata bengkak, gigi kering gara2 denger klo hady yg menang mau gimana lagi?? Sumpah gw bt gara2 orang2 yg msh mengelak klo Mike emg bgs,,duh..Kejamnya dunia!!

What is it about Mike and Reuben??? silly … at least the American had shown that they all have GOOD EARS and BRAINS to vote for vocal instead of looks … oww i forgot that Reuben’s runer up didnt have the LOOK either …… LOL another prove to make “this part of asian” are no more than just millions of brainless people. I dont mean to insult anybody but I totally agree that Hady won by second vote. I hope he will not represent Asia in the World Idol until we find the next Asian Idol who is truly have all they need to participate and not just bring SHAME to Asia. Lets face it guys Hady isnt goodlooking enough to win the World Idol (if there is one).
Jac-Mau-Mike …. if only one of them who’d won … sigh! anyways Im hoping that fremantle will come up with more fair methode for the sms systems … for example viewers should vote in rank and scoring points like this ….
1 = 60
2 = 50
3 = 40
4 = 30
5 = 20
6 = 10
anyway you who have brains will know what Im talking about here.
Congrats Hady Mirza for being the first Asian Idol!
